📊🗳 POLL: ANC on decline, EFF losing support to MK

Voter support for South Africa’s ruling African National Congress slipped further before next month’s election, a new opinion poll showed, with the Economic Freedom Fighters leaking votes to a new party backed by former President Jacob Zuma.

The ANC has the support of 40.2% of voters, pollster Ipsos said in a report released on Friday. That compares with 40.5% in a survey published on Feb. 6, and 43% in October. In the last election in 2019, the ANC garnered 57.5% of the vote.

“The ANC, long the dominant force in the country’s politics, is struggling to impress voters,” Ipsos said in a statement. “Nationally, only 38% believe that the ANC will live up to their election promises.”

Since it's "freedom day" today, admin would like to share some figures with his dear followers:

Global Crime Ranking:
South Africa is ranked seventh out of 193 countries for criminality. It’s important to note that this ranking reflects the overall crime situation in the country, within the African continent, South Africa holds the third position in terms of crime, following the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Nigeria.

Safety and Security Index:
When considering safety and security, which encompasses criminality, political instability, violence, and unrest, South Africa ranks 144th out of 163 countries. It’s just ahead of Ukraine, which is currently at war with Russia.

Specific Crime Categories:
South Africa faces notably high rates of assaults, rape, homicides, and other violent crimes. These figures have been attributed to factors such as poverty, inequality, unemployment, and the normalization of violence3.

Human Trafficking:
As of 2023, South Africa remains on the tier two level watch list for human trafficking for the third consecutive year. Factors such as high unemployment rates and low wages contribute to an environment where human traffickers can thrive1.

Rape:
In 2010, South Africa had the highest rate of rape in the world, with 132.4 incidents per 100,000 people. This unfortunate statistic highlights the severity of the issue within the country. A survey conducted by the South African Medical Research Council in 2009 revealed that approximately one in four Africans admitted to committing rape.

The abuse of women:
South Africa has been grappling with a pervasive issue of gender-based violence. Some gruesome cases have shocked the nation, including incidents of brutal attacks, rape, and murder.

In the second quarter of 2023 - 2024, South Africa recorded:
- 10,516 rapes
- 1,514 attempted murders
- 14,401 assaults against female victims
- 881 women murdered.

Intimate Partner Violence:
South Africa’s rates of intimate partner violence are five times the global average. The country also has the fourth-highest rate of interpersonal violence-related femicide in the world. A statistical profile by UNICEF highlighted violence against girls, boys, and women in Southern Africa, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to address this critical issue3.

South Africa, once a flourishing, Christian and Europeanized country in the southern tip of Africa, is today a hollowed out rotting carcass that stands as a monument to the failed ideology of Enlightened Liberalism.

Pictured in 1994 this man takes office, and 30 years later 500 000 murders are committed in South Africa. I'd like to remind everyone of the deep irony that most of these killings would be between the bantu population. Today the violence continues, and the bloody legacy of Nelson Mandela knows no end.

🇿🇦🇲🇿 South Africa builds concrete wall to keep out Mozambicans

Concrete barriers are being built along a stretch of the South Africa-Mozambique border to prevent people crossing over to steal and smuggle vehicles.

South African authorities have budgeted close to $2.7m (£2.1m) to build the wall. It's made up of three sections: an 8km (5 mile) barrier near Tembe Elephant Park; an 8km-long stretch near iSimangaliso Wetland Park; a 9km wall from the western boundary of Tembe Elephant Park towards Pongolo River.

Building works on the Tembe Elephant Park section "are currently underway," according to a joint briefing by the South African government and KwaZulu-Natal province.

"The impact of the project has been positively received by the community and the South African National Defense Force," it added.
