✅ Biotech-KISAN scheme is a farmer-centric scheme for farmers, launched in 2017, developed by and with farmers under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology.

🔆Chloropicrin:

✅It is a chemical compound which is also known as nitrochloroform. It is used both as a warfare agent and pesticide. It is a colourless to yellow oily liquid.

✅It is used broadly as a fungicide, herbicide, insecticide, nematicide and antimicrobial.

✅It is an irritant with characteristics of a tear gas. It has an intensely irritating odour and can be absorbed through inhalation, ingestion and the skin.

✅It was first made for use as a poison gas in the First World War, by both the Allied and the Central Powers.

📍Impacts on Health:

✅Chloropicrin has documented irritating and tears-inducing effects on humans, and is also known to be highly toxic and carcinogenic and also induce vomiting.

ISRO recently achieved a milestone by conducting the first PreBurner Ignition trial for the Semi-Cryogenic Engine (SCE)-200.

This ignition process is crucial in developing liquid rocket engine systems.
The SCE uses liquid oxygen (LOX) as an oxidizer and refined kerosene as fuel, aiming to produce a thrust of 2,000 kilonewtons (kN).

✅ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre in Bengaluru leads the SCE development, aiming to enhance the payload capacity of Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3) and future launch vehicles.

✅ Unlike traditional cryogenic engines, SCEs offer advantages such as easier storage and handling, increased thrust capacity, and eco-friendliness, making them more cost-effective.

📍Widal test and it's alternatives

Widal Test:

✅It is a test done for diagnosing typhoid fever.

✅Typhoid fever, also known as enteric fever, is a bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi, and it is commonly spread through contaminated food or water.

✅The symptoms mimic those of malaria, dengue, influenza, and typhus, to name a few, making it difficult to diagnose without proper testing.

✅The widal test is a serological test that detects antibodies against the bacteria in a patient’s blood sample, indicating whether or not they have been infected with the bacteria.

📍Limitations:
✅A single positive Widal test report doesn’t necessarily mean a typhoid infection is present, and a negative report doesn’t confirm the disease’s absence
✅The reagents used in the Widal test to reveal the presence of various antibodies can cross-react with antibodies produced against infections by other bacteria,
