April 29th in Japan is "Showa Day" 昭和の日 (Showa no Hi).

It was on this day that the 124th Emperor of Japan, Hirohito, who reigned from 1926 to 1989, was born.

This holiday has been celebrated since 2007. From 1989 to 2006, Midori no hi みどりの日 (Green Day) was celebrated on this day. Now it is celebrated on May 4th.
This day is also the beginning. "Golden Week" ゴールデンウィーク Goruden uiku. For the Japanese, this means not only several days off, but also several public holidays in a row.
