S402 is perfect television (+TrueBlood comparisons)
S4: The first real traction of who-does-she-want moments… S4E02 is particularly excellent, and has some of the best one liners.
- “Am I wearing my ‘I blew up the council’ T-shirt?”
- (After the punch) “What was that for?”…. “You know what.”
- “I miss you too, buddy.”
Those last two effectively deepen some key dynamics.
I recently rewatched TrueBlood and, after S4, it really loses the relational plots. It briefly tried to pull a similar love triangle, but failed (not enough build up… followed by a quick, boring resolution). So much potential (Eric is incredible casting; it would be fun to see him with Damon. The other TrueBlood casting, meh). I still really like it, but I kept thinking during TrueBlood S2-S3, that it was trying to do what TVD did so well in S4 (and really, throughout multiple seasons). Side note: TVD S4E03 shares some especially similar themes with TB, but these are mostly common vampire and romance story devices. TVD does them better, but I’ll take ‘em both.
Also, it’s wild how many supporting actors are in both series.
Anyway, if someone asked me for the essence of TVD, I think S4E02 would be a strong contender.

Calling Sheriff Forbes
I know that there are many sad moments on TVD but the "calling Sheriff Forbes" part during Liz's funeral completely gutted me. She was an amazing character. In my opinion, I dont think there is any scene that's as hard to watch as that one.

What was Stefan thinking when he decided to meet Elena?
She's humane, he's a vampire. Their relationship was doomed to fail, so what was the point of starting a relationship with her? Was he planning on dating her a few years and then disappear once it starts getting visible he's not aging, possibly breaking her heart? Was he hoping she would want to become a vampire? Also he knows he has a blood addiction and there's a good chance he might end up hurting her one day so I just don't understand what he was thinking

I was listening to Taylor Swift’s ‘marjorie’, and I thought about how it kind of fits Bonnie’s relationship with her Grams. Especially the bridge.

You'd always go past where our feet could touch/
And I complained the whole way there/
The car ride back and up the stairs/

Why Katherine rapidly aging after she lost the Cure makes zero sense.
So, in season 5, the show establishes that after Silas took the Cure out of Katherine's body, she began to age to her "real" age. This means that she was, if my math is correct, 544 years or something close to that. The reasoning the show went with was that because the Cure was taken out of Katherine's body, her body would begin to compensate for all the years she spent as a vampire. I guess this is fine.
Except that it makes no sense. Well, almost. Here's why:
One of the fundamental tenets of the show's concept of vampirism is that vampires are dead. Obviously. But here's where it gets complicated: The finale of season 5 establishes that vampires are actually kept alive by spirit/dark/whatever magic. This is why when the magic is stripped from Tyler's body, he goes back to what state his body was without the magic: the corpse of a werewolf whose neck was snapped.
So, with this lore established, vampires aren't exactly immortal. They're dead. They're magically reanimated corpses . This is why they can come back to life when they're temporarily killed (neck snapped, shot, poisoned, etc.). The magic that Esther used resurrects their bodies. With this line of thinking, we can follow that their bodies, being corpses, are magically kept in stasis at the age they died. Another example that supports this is their desiccation. Their bodies become mummified when they don't drink blood for a long period of time.
Silas and Amara would desiccate too but there's a difference when it comes to their calibre of immortality. Silas and Amara aren't dead. Qetsiyah created a spell that would give someone true immortality. The concept of rapid aging works for them because there's no magic keeping them alive but, rather, there's magic keeping them from aging and being impervious to harm. Whereas, vampires aren't aging at all but magic is keeping them alive.
Ergo, when Katherine took the Cure, she shouldn't have become a human. She should've been dead. The Cure reverses the magic that is keeping her body alive, so, she should've been turned back to what she was- a corpse. The aging arc doesn't make sense because the magic didn't stop her from aging. She's already dead. Her body is still, for all intents and purposes, 17 years old.

Do you like or hate Elena and why
Honestly I like Elena she’s probably one of my favorite characters people say she makes everything abt her self but I don’t see it,like she does sm for her friends and they do sm for her the whole show was everyone sacrificing themselves for eachother .And she’s literally been thru everything she watched everyone die (and usually come back istg no one dies in this show) So you can’t rlly expect her to be laughing every two seconds🤷♀️
