To be eligible, an NRI must:
- Hold an NRE or NRO account with a UPI-participating Indian bank.
- Have a mobile number from one of the supported countries.
- Ensure the number is registered with their bank account.

- IDFC First Bank was the first to roll out this feature.
- ICICI Bank has enabled it via its iMobile Pay app.
- Other major banks like HDFC, SBI, and Axis Bank are expected to follow soon.
