Information about this palace is extremely scarce. According to the official version, the palace was opened on July 4, 1891. It housed the largest collection of minerals and gems in the world.

Considered one of the richest and most luxurious buildings then existing in the United States, the Mineral Palace had a facade with a colonnade, and at each corner on the outside of the building were spheres between the column and the roof. The main dome of the building was 72 feet high. It was decorated with 16 foot long female figures representing different countries of the world. Part of the decoration was the use of 2,200 electric lights with painted flowers.

The Mineral Palace, once called the 8th wonder of the world, stood for 52 years, was demolished in 1943 and disappeared from popular memory.
