In Spain we have several of these megalithic dolmens. I would like to share a few of them.

This one is called La Chabola de La Hechicera (in euskera or Basque language is Sorginaren Txabola) is situated in the Basque country and it's one of the biggest in the zone. It's believed to be a burial place as they found human bones among other things that are now in the Museum Laguardia. In August, people celebrate a "aquelarre" (a sabbat or a night reunion of witches).

Celtiberian/Lusitanian Goddess Ataegina

Her name has been written in many variations: Ategina, Atagina, Attaegina, etc. Ataegina was venerated in Lusitania and Bรฉtica in Iberia. There are sanctuaries dedicated to the goddess in Elvas, Portugal, Mรฉrida and Cรกceres in Extramadura, Spain. Besides, she was especially adored near the Guadiana River. It was basically in a lot of regions in Iberia. She was identified by the Romans with Proserpina, as she was the goddess of the Underworld and her rebirth was in the spring. It also sounds like Brigid in the sense that she was trapped in a cave by Cailleach, but different at the same time. She was one of the most adored goddesses in Iberia, as she was the one that welcomes the spring, fertility and new start after the winter. She was also a goddess with lots of inscriptions. Ataegina was associated with goats. As she was a chthonic goddess, Iberians used to ask the goddess to cast curses on wrongdoers who stole people's possessions.

J.L. Vasconcelos made the first and most accepted analysis in regards to her etymology. According to him, the name Ataegina came from Celtic, having the roots "ate" and "gena". The former would come from Proto-Celtic prefix "ati", which is the same as the prefix "re-" in, for instance Modern English and most Romance such as "restart". The root "gena" was compared with Latin genitus, past participle of gigno, coming from Proto-Indo European genh-, meaning "to give birth". Thus, Ataegina would mean "reborn" or "rebirth". Vasconcelos also suggested that we could compare it with Latin re-genita : re-born. This way, Ataegina's name could mean "The One (who is) Reborn".

Artistic reconstruction of the ancient Gallic town of Manching, in Bavaria, Germany. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

The town was founded in the 3rd century B.C., on the southern bank of the Danube river. The town grew up around a central ritual space, where a sanctuary and cemetery have been unearthed. By the mid 2nd century B.C., it came to be protected by 7.2 km of timber-laced stone & rubble walls. The town was a hub of trade and artisanship, there being centres for the production of pottery, coinage, and textiles, as well as iron-smelting workshops. Extensive agriculture and livestock herding also made up part of the townโ€™s economy. Manching remained inhabited until the mid 1st century B.C., when it was abandoned, probably due to the collapse of the regional economy, which came about as a result of the Roman conquest of western Gaul.
