Our Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Al-Masqarī May Allāh Protect Him Said:

'And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection.'

Having Contentment With The Truth And Being Steadfast Wherever One May Be

Our Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Al-Masqarī May Allāh Preserve Him Said:

"Having contentment with the truth and steadfastness is a blessing. By Allāh, O brothers, we came across men and women in America, South Africa, India, and Indonesia, and they had astonishing firmness (upon the religion). You wouldn't be able to see any opposition to the Sunnah from them; their thobes were levelled at the middle of their shins, and their women were wearing hijab, to such an extent that you couldn't see anything from them.

Conversely, you may find some brothers in Yemen and Al-Haramain, gradually abandoning matters that are Sunnah and, in some cases, obligatory."

Befriend Good People

Our Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Al-Masqarī May Allāh Preserve Him Said:

"Befriend those who are good, as the best friends are those who love you for the sake of Allāh, advise you for the sake of Allāh, remind you of Allāh, help you fear Allāh, conceal your shortcomings if you disobey, straighten you if you become heedless, and encourage you to do good.

He doesn't envy you if you surpass him, nor does he reject your advice if he came to you for it. Furthermore, he doesn't have negative thoughts about you. This person, by Allāh, is from the good people."

214. Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "Allah decrees the (Hell) Fire and debars Jannah for the one who usurps the rights of a believer by taking a false oath.'' One man asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Even if it should be for an insignificant thing?'' He said, "Even if it be a stick of the Arak tree (i.e., the tree from which Miswak sticks are taken)".
[Muslim].

Commentary: The importance of rights of people is evident from the threat of severe punishment that this Hadith holds for the usurpers of these rights. Their case will depend entirely on the Will of Allah. Such defaulters may be forgiven even in the initial stage or they may be pardoned by Allah after some punishment.

▪️Advice For The One Struggling To Memorise The Qurān ▪️

Answered By Ash-Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Ibn Hussain Al-Masqarī - May Allāh Preserve Him

📩 Question:

The questioner says I would like some advice regarding memorising the Qurān. The questioner seems to be finding it hard.

✏️ Answer:

Work hard, O brother, in memorising the Qurān; persevere and continue, even if you memorise one āyah every day. Have a firm intention to memorise the Qurān even if (you complete it) after twenty years. Be determined about memorising the Qurān. Work hard and memorise whatever is easy for you, one āyah at a time, two, three, five, one page or half a page; the main thing is to put in effort and be consistent.

Do not give up hope; even if it takes you twenty or thirty years to memorise the Qurān, there is no problem with that. The main thing is that you die while you are a memoriser of the Qurān. Some of the salaf were at the age of 60 or 70 years old, so he returned to memorising the Qurān, completed it in two years, and then passed away. He was then seen in a dream saying, "Had it not been for these two years, then I would have been destroyed." Meaning, had I not returned to the Qurān, then I would've been destroyed.

The Qurān is a means of mercy:

{ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣱ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ }

"A guidance and a mercy for the believers".
[Sūrah Yūnus: 57]

Whoever is not able to memorise and he sat there reading by looking, then he is from the people of the Qurān; he is from the people of the Qurān inshā Allāh. However, he should continue with the reading of the Qurān, and the one who continues with the reading of the Qurān will (eventually) memorise it. The one who reads the Qurān from the beginning till the end, then starts again. Some of the general folk, they read the whole Qurān in a week, then start again; this person will undoubtedly memorise it and strive to memorise it. You'll find that if you recite some āyāt to him, he'll finish it off for you.

Therefore, reading the Qurān is acting upon it; reading the Qurān is (a means to) memorising it. So you should strive to memorise it, inshā Allāh. The main point is that you are continuous. Continue reading it, memorising it, and contemplating it.

You find some who memorise it, but they don't act upon it. They have a precise memorisation of the Qurān and some know the different modes of recitation; however, he's an innovator. Rather, some of them are rāfidhī, sūfī; he doesn't act upon it. Likewise, the person could be disloyal; he looks at the harām, listens to the harām, and falls short with regards to the rights of Allāh, his family, and his children, and then on top of this, he'll claim that he is from the people of the Qurān. No. The likes of these people will only increase in distance from Allāh. How many people are readers of the Qurān and the Qurān is cursing him?! He lies, and Allāh says in His noble book:

{ فَنَجۡعَل لَّعۡنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ }

"(We) invoke (sincerely) the Curse of Allāh upon those who lie."

▪️Reading And Memorising The Quraan And Belittling Other People▪️

Answered By Ash-Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Ibn Hussain Al-Masqarī - May Allāh Preserve Him

📩 Question:

There is a man whom Allāh has made it easy for him to memorise the Qurān however, he belittles the people and says, "This one doesn't know how to read the Qurān" and "This one is miskeen." What is your advice for him?

✏️ Answer:

Our advice to the reader of the Qurān is to be the best of people in terms of manners, and he shouldn't have bad manners. He should have good manners and be humble, acknowledging the blessing of Allāh (upon him), far from arrogance, self-admiration, and deception; as this is from what corrupts the heart and actions.

It is not allowed for a person to look down on his brother's, as it comes in the hadīth:

(كفى بالمرء إثما أن يحقر أخاه المسلم)

"It is enough of a sin for a man to look down on his Muslim brother." [Muslim]

Belittling people is a sign of arrogance and conceit. Therefore, if Allāh grants you success to a blessing, then advise, guide, and love for the people that which you love for yourself. As for belittling the people, then no, don't do that.
